Jaeyeol (Jay Hong) and Hyeong-seok (Daniel Park) are friends, or so they say they are. But honestly, there’s obviously something there.
Jaeyeol and Hyeongseok are characters from Netflix’s Newest (and first) Korean Animation adaptation, Lookism. It has only released its first season, and many fans are already looking forward to more. Now, going back.
The moment Hyeongseok step foot in the arts and design the first person who reacted was none other than Jaeyeol. He looked as if Hyeong-seok amused him, or more like, he became interested in what Hyeongseok could offer.

We also find out, as the season progresses, that Jaeyeol is not much of a talker. He doesn’t even interact with his peers, but he isn’t really bullied or put down for it because everybody knows that Jaeyeol is filthy rich. However, because of a conversation he overheard (his classmates plotting something bad with Hyeongseok), Jaeyeol decided he’d give him 10 bags of brand new designer clothes (he says they’re used, but one scene showed him with 3 different credit cards on the table, so they’re probably brand new) on his birthday just so his reputation doesn’t get ruined.
Not only that, but Jaeyeol is also the very first to step up when Hyeongseok gets into a fight. He is the first one that defends him, and he stood by him during that one scene in the cafeteria when it looked like Hyeongseok was about to, yet again, go through another gruesome fight with a bully.

It could be interpreted that Jaeyeol is just interested in Hyeongseok because of his face and his model-like features, his family is filthy rich and he studies fashion design, so their business might have something to do with the fashion industry. However, as far as season 1 is concerned, there isn’t really much to dig up on because Jaeyeol is seen rarely during this season, but he is there at the most crucial moments.
If Jaeyeol’s intentions toward Hyeongseok are pure, then that’s all good, however, his introduction in the series made it seem like his character portrayed a deeper role in the life of Hyeongseok, and that’s what we’re waiting to find out in the seasons (hopefully) to come.
