“Operation Strix” is Loid Forger’s mission, which involves infiltrating the inner circle of the National Unity Party’s leader, Donovan Desmond. This is necessary because Desmond poses a significant threat to the relationship between Ostania and Westalis.
Loid must enter into a marriage and have a child, who will then enroll in the prestigious Eden Academy to achieve this. The goal is for Loid’s child to form a relationship with Donovan’s child, thus giving him a path to get close to Desmond.

Westalis and Ostania’s History Explained
A prequel to the events of the story, Westalis and Ostania were neighboring countries that had a history of conflict. Wars clashed between both countries. Back then, Ostania was controlled by a political party named the National Unity Party. Despite this, the two nations eventually came to a peace agreement and signed a treaty to end their hostilities.
A decade after the end of the war, a Westalian diplomat died in a suspicious car crash in Ostania. The vehicle crashed through a road barrier and exploded. The Westalian Intelligence Services’ Eastern-Focused Division (WISE) believes that it was a murder carried out by right-wing extremists from the East. They suspect that Ostania is planning an attack against Westalis once again, and it is their responsibility to prevent it and maintain peace between the two nations. To achieve this goal, they turn to Loid, also known as “Twilight”, their top agent.

Operation Strix Explained
In the first episode of Spy X Family, Loid sets out to meet with another member of the Westalian Intelligence to exchange newspapers. The two pretend to be ordinary people at the train station. While reading through the newspaper, Loid deciphers a coded message:
Good day. Or rather, good evening “Twilight.” Excellent work on your last assignment. Thanks to you, the minister has survived another day to the great benefit of Westalis. I’m afraid we have another assignment for you already. Your target is the leader of the National Unity Party, Donovan Desmond. He is a grave threat to the truce between the East and the West. Your mission is to get close to him and probe any seditious activities. In order to do so… you will marry and have a child.

Loid is taken aback after reading that he had to marry and have a child, causing him to spit out his coffee to the newspaper itself. He continues reading further:
The Desmond is recluse and is extremely suspicious of others. At this point, he operates almost entirely behind the scenes. His only public appearances are at the events held at the private school his son attends. These events serve as informal get-togethers for the upper crust of industrial and political leaders. You are to enroll your child at this school and gain entry to these events. However, the deadline for admission is approaching fast. Only one week remains.
Loid then thinks to himself, “I have seven days to make a child?!” and rips off the paper in half but continues to read it:
We’re calling it “Operation Strix” This operation is the key to maintaining peace between East and West, and perhaps the world beyond. You and your fellow agents do great deeds that never see the light of day. You are heroes without shadows. You’ll earn no medals. Your name will never make it into the papers. But despite that… Never forget that everyone else’s day-to-day lives are possible because of your blood and sweat.

The series then follows Loid as he carries out his mission for the greater good. Determined to play his role as a family man flawlessly, he adopts Anya, a charming and distinctive girl with cat-like ear accessories. He also marries a civil servant named Yor. However, Loid is unaware that both Anya and Yor have their own hidden agendas. Yor is revealed to be an assassin, and Anya is a telepath.
