One of the most lovable characters of the Boruto series, a cat lover – like most of us, might be stronger than his Legendary Sannin parent, Orochimaru. They say that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. So, will Mitsuki follow in the steps of his parent?
Mitsuki, one of the main characters in Boruto: Naruto Next Generation is a highly anticipated shinobi. However, this is not because he is part of the new Team 7 together with Boruto, Sarada, and Kawaki.
Boruto fans are closely watching the whats and hows of Mitsuki due to his ties with the fearsome literally snaky villain in the Naruto series, Orochimaru. Mitsuki is currently fulfilling his own ninja way by being a shinobi of the Konohagakure after leaving his parent’s care.
We all know that Orochimaru is considered one of the OG characters of the series. He has been part of the series way back. Fans of the Naruto series even thought that he is the main villain of the story. Well, I can’t blame them for that because Orochimaru was evil reincarnated for most of the episodes. He was a rogue ninja, a brutal shinobi and scientist who sacrificed so many lives, and a former Akatsuki member.
He was the literal snake of the Konoha for so many episodes, one of which is his first appearance in the Naruto anime, particularly the Chunin Exam Arc.

However, as the story progresses, despite the wrongdoings he has done in the past, such as attempting to destroy Konoha not just once but countless times, making humans subjects for his experiments, and even killing his own sensei. He was able to redeem himself; but not totally.

Although Orochimaru made a massive contribution during the Fourth Great Ninja War. In the last episodes of Naruto Shippuden, it showed that he was still being guarded by Yamato. Up until the Boruto series, many years since the war, he was still under house arrest.
If you’re asking if he still conducts experiments in the Boruto series? The answer to that is…Yes! And one of his major experiments is his own son, Mitsuki. Even being Orochimaru’s clone, Mitsuki has proven that he differs from his parent in many aspects.
So here are five things that make Mitsuki different from Orochimaru:
5. He Loves Cats
It is believed that cat lovers are those who are sensible and sensitive. Unlike Orochimaru who practically didn’t like cats because he was busy causing destruction in the shinobi world. Mitsuki on the other hand showed his gentle side by owning a cat he found on the streets. He named the cat Mikazuki, and eventually became his little roommate.

4. He Holds Greater Power
It has become a common knowledge for Naruto fans how strong Orochimaru is. In fact, their late Sensei, Hiruzen, actually had high hopes for Orochimaru because of his undeniable intelligence and abilities. However; he still had lacking in some aspects, mainly his chakra levels.
Not having the needed chakra made it impossible for Orochimaru to master Sage Transformation. Hence, he used his talents in making a modified clone of his who held a higher amount of chakra. Orochimaru made a synthetic human, who he now considers his son. Mitsuki can easily tap into a far stronger and can perfect the Senjutsu.

It is also believed that since he is still a developing shinobi, Mitsuki might someday surpass Naruto’s Sage Mode.
3. He Loves Playing Cards
Unlike Orochimaru who probably does not have any interest in playing with his friends. Mistuki grew fond of playing the famous shinobi cards with his friends. Boruto, one of Mitsuki’s closest friends is very fond of playing and collecting rare shinobi cards.

Boruto might have been the primary influence as to why Mitsuki learned to entertain himself by playing cards. This proves that even though he is a synthetic human, and a modified clone of Orochimaru, he is leading his life far better than how his parent did.
2. He Loves His Friends
Orochimaru even once battled the two Sannins with the intention to end their life. Not quite a good friend if you ask me. Although Naruto fans saw a bit of Orochimaru when he was still a shinobi of the Leaf caring for his friends, Jiraiya and Tsunade.
Orochimaru’s relationship with his friends cannot even compare to Mitsuki’s. By deciding to have Boruto as his son, Mitsuki entered the academy and was able to be part of the much-anticipated new Team 7. He was able to form genuine bonds with Sarada, Boruto, and even Kawaki (the newest member). It was also shown in one of the scenes featuring Mitsuki’s apartment that on his nightstand there is a picture of him, Boruto, Sarada, other shinobi friends, and Konohamaru Sensei.

1. He is Cheerful and Kind
Mitsuki is probably the most cheerful one among the members of the new Team 7. With Sarada and Boruto’s constant bantering, Mistuki is always the neutral one. Mitsuki’s kind personality allowed him to build friendships with other shinobis from different teams, such as the Ino-Shika-Cho, and Team 5.

Unlike the terrifying former villain of Konoha who sees everyone as simply his pawns. Mitsuki is a cheerful shinobi who always cooperates with other shinobis. He respects and treasures his friends, and strives to become a better shinobi someday, which is what Orochimaru secretly wants him to do.
Hence, sometimes the apple does fall far from the tree because, in strength and personality-wise, Mitsuki is always a step ahead of Orochimaru.
