Spy x Family‘s Season 2 is coming soon on October 1 and fans cannot wait! It will be pretty soon that we get to watch Anya, Loid, and Yor again and laugh at their fun dynamic. Moreover, we will be able to see these characters try to achieve their goals while keeping up the appearance of a family.
In the meantime, fans delight themselves to meme-ing the anime, most especially Anya. There are also a lot of questions about her, because she is not an ordinary girl. Fans want to know everything about Anya so far, so we will be helping you with it!
Take note that this article will only reference the anime. No manga spoilers will be included.
Anya Has A Telepathic Ability
What exactly made Anya extraordinary is that she has a telepathic ability. She is able to read other people’s minds. She is actually the only character in the series who is well-aware of everything that’s going on. She knew Loid is a spy with a mission, and Yor is an assassin in secret. This makes for hilarious scenes where Anya freaks out whenever Yor is thinking something morbid.
Anya is also very reliant on her telepathy. This was seen when Loid is urging her to study to gain a Stella star. She has shown struggles in finding the answers on her own without reading other people’s minds. This telepathy helped Anya earn her first Stella star when she saved a kid from drowning.
The only downside to her telepathy is that she is unable to control it. She gets to read every person’s thoughts in the same room as her, so she gets overwhelmed and exhausted by it.
Anya Likes A Spy Show: “Spy Wars”
Anya likes watching the spy show, “Spy Wars”, to the point of wanting to roleplay it. This resulted in an event where Loid roleplayed as a spy to save Anya, the princess who is a damsel in distress. Yor acted as the witch, one of the allies ‘villain’ Franky Franklin has. She also does roleplay on her own at home, using her stuff toys.
There are also a lot of times that Anya would rather watch “Spy Wars” instead of studying, visibly disappointing Loid.
Anya Only Has 1 Friend
Anya only has 1 friend, and that is Becky Blackwell. Initially, Anya did not have a good impression of her. This is because Anya read Becky’s first thoughts, in which the latter thought the former to be immature. Their relationship started when Anya claimed to be defending Becky from Damian. This is actually an excuse Anya came up with to validate her punch towards Damian. Regardless, it won over Becky and they have been inseparable ever since.
Damian Has a Crush on Anya
Speaking of Damian, he totally is crushing hard on Anya. At first, he just arrogantly assumes that Anya has fallen for him – much to the latter’s disgust. He is also a bully towards Anya, which led to her punching him. However, Anya becomes conscious of Loid’s mission. She realized she should befriend Damian instead, so she tried to apologize. During the apology, we get the cute scene where Damian’s heart started beating loudly. He started to realize how cute Anya is, with flower petals dancing around him. This is the moment he started to have a crush on her.
His feelings became apparent when he defended Anya when their other classmates started questioning her Stella star. He also willingly caught the dodgeball to save Anya from getting hit. However, he is still in self-denial and resorts to bullying Anya to hide his true feelings.
She Demands To Be Called “Starlight Anya”
When Anya received her first Stella star, she wanted to be called “Starlight Anya”. She flexes it whenever she could, much to the annoyance of her best friend, Becky. To be fair, she deserved the recognition. She braved the water to save a drowning kid, and she was bullied by a lot of kids when she first stepped in school.
Her Actual Age is Unknown
There have been implications that Anya’s age is actually younger than 6 years old. She only ever passed Loid’s test of intelligence because she has read the answers from Loid’s mind. She actually struggles with her academics, because they are all advanced to her. She also has low athletic abilities as well, as the physical exercises to her may be too rigorous. Despite all that though, she still tries her best to exceed in her studies to fulfill Loid’s mission.
She Has Abandonment Issues
She has taken a liking to Loid. When he originally instructed her to go to an orphanage, she refused to do so. She wanted to stay with Loid instead, and did not like the prospect of him replacing her. This gives a glimpse of Anya’s past. She experienced being abandoned many times before by her past families. She does not come clean about her telepathy in fear of being left behind.
The scene when they were being interviewed by Eden Academy shows this. When she was asked to compare Yor to her original birth mother, she was reduced to tears. This prompted Loid to lose his usual calm composure, and Yor getting ready to beat up the interviewer. Whatever happened to her actual parents or mother figure, it was most likely tragic.
She Got Experimented On
A flashback was seen on episode 1, wherein a group of doctors were talking to Anya. They wanted to use her power for world peace, but whatever happened to the experiment, it possibly did not end well. The experience left a negative impact on Anya as she was seen crying. She was probably treated merely as a test subject, instead of an actual human being.
She Wants to Have a Pet
In the second to the last episode of Season 1, Anya expressed the desire to have a pet dog. This may be foreshadowing on what to expect next season! After all, it can be quite exciting to have a dog become part of the family. There are going to be more cute and funny moments if that is the case.
This led to more hilarious scenes where Anya read both Loid’s and Yor’s thoughts about having a dog. Yor’s thoughts are morbid as always, which scares Anya.
Despite only having Season 1 as of now, Anya surely has a lot of quirks and unique traits! She managed to win over a lot of viewers because she is easily the fan favorite. It is now wonder that fans are looking forward to know more about her. We will surely be getting those in future seasons!
The cuteness and humor that Anya has are definitely the highlights of the series. Her dynamic with Loid and Yor guaranteed the series’ popularity, making October 1 a marked date for many.
