Along with One Piece’s many episodes, the franchise has also released a multitude of movies. Some were well received, like One Piece: Film Gold and One Piece: Stampede, while the others were not so much.

When watching Anime adapted from a Manga like One Piece, the general rule is that anything that did not come out or was not mentioned in the manga is non-canon, meaning, it didn’t really happen and it would not affect the overall outcome of the story. In One Piece’s case, every movie released by the franchise is non-canon, therefore, it will not affect the story as a whole.
One Piece Movies That Are NOT Canon
These One Piece films are fillers that happen before each arc in One Piece. The author, Eiichiro Oda, took no part in the creation and plot of the film, therefore, whatever happens in the movie does not align with or is, in any way, affiliated with the main story. They are not canon.

One Piece Films That HAVE Canon Scenes
There are some details in One Piece films that are considered canon. A good example would be Laugh Tale’s spelling in One Piece: Stampede. Eiichiro Oda has revealed that the spelling used in the filler movie is the actual spelling of the final island, which sparked a lot of theories among fans regarding what the ‘One Piece’ really is.
