Dimple. Yes! It was none other than Kageyama Shigeo’s enemy-turned-ally-turned-enemy evil spirit friend. Or should I say nemesis? However, the story regarding the Divine Tree is not just about Dimple being the villain for he had sacrificed his life just to save Mob from the other person who also gained the power to control it.
The final season of Mob Psycho 100 started where it left off at the end of season two, which is the emergence of the Divine Tree. The World Domination Arc featuring Toichiro Suzuki and Kageyama Shigeo’s fight was just too intense and emotional to watch. Witnessing another esper who almost had the same abilities as Mob made people forget one small thing that led to a very huge one, and this led to the Divine Tree Arc.
How Did the Divine Tree Emerge?
Before the World Domination Arc, Mob went on with his day-to-day life, such as slaying espers for the sake of Reigen’s clients. In the first episode of season two, Reigen visited one of his clients.
He and Mob went to visit the old man who complained about his withering plants for almost three years. He then said he felt and saw something creepily wriggling his farm. And for sure, the client did hire the right people because it was indeed an evil spirit.
Although it caused the man’s next harvest to defeat the evil spirit because it was all destroyed. The powerful esper was able to banish the evil spirit who was harming the farm. Without any money to pay for the service, Reigen accepted fertilizers and seedlings as the fee for bringing down the evil farm spirit.

How is this connected with the Divine Tree? As I have said, because a lot happened during season two of the series, many forgot about something. One of the seedlings that the farmer gave to Reigen and Shigeo was broccoli seeds. Reigen then gave the broccoli seeds to Mob as payment for his service in slaying the evil spirit.
It was not until the last episode of season two that we got to the broccoli seeds again. And it was way different from the last time we saw it. This was due to the fight between Shigeo and Suzuki for both of them reached a power control of 100%. To prevent Suzuki from self-destruction, Mob absorbed most of his psychic energy resulting in their powers overloading causing a huge explosion to happen.

One funny thing that we find out from this scene is that the emergence of the Divine Tree proves that Mob never does check his pockets before washing them. Because if he did, then the Divine Tree Arc would cease to exist, right?
It was just at the end of season two that Mob, Reigen, and Dimple realized that the broccoli seeds from their client turned out to be the big tree located at the center of the city.
How Did Dimple Meet Mob?
Dimple always wanted to be God. Before meeting Shigeo, he created a cult called LOL. It was a religious group aimed to make everyone happy even if they were really not. Dimpel gave them a mask containing a hex that forces them to smile and laugh.
However, when Shigeo was invited to attend the cult. He wasn’t affected by Dimple’s curses. Mob opposed Dimple’s beliefs, which triggered the evil spirit in showing his true identity. But since Mob was just a simple middle school student, Dimple greatly underestimated him. After Mob reached 100%, the evil spirit exploded.

He didn’t die though. He just took on another form because of losing so much power during his fight with Mob. From then, the former upper-class evil spirit turned out to be one of Mob’s allies… not until the final season of the series.

In episode three of season three, Mob became too conceited after Emi-chan (his ex-girlfriend) pointed out that he had become popular. Mob talked to not one but four girls in one day, which is quite shocking for an introvert like him. Hence, what Emi said got into his head resulting in him being too occupied with his so-called popularity resulting in him ignoring Dimple’s request.
Shigeo unintentionally ignored Dimple when he told him about the Psycho Helmet Cult. Dimple visited Mob that night, and express his willingness to work with him for the religious group created due to the giant broccoli by Shigeo. They ended up arguing, and Dimple walked out when Mob told him to give his schemes a rest.

So then Dimple plotted his schemes alone. Dimple decided to infuse himself with it in order to further increase his psychic power. Everyone in town was brainwashed because they have touched, eaten, or felt something from the Divine Tree. It was only Mob who was not affected by the mass hypnosis.
Psycho Helmet and Dimple
Dimple successfully attained God-like abilities by merging with the Divine Tree. Hence, he and Shigeo fought. However, during their fight, their true feelings for each other were still very evident. Mob wanted his friend back, and Dimple gets nervous about going overboard while fighting Mob. BA
Good thing Mob didn’t remove the ugly yellow monkey shirt that Teruki Hanazawa bought for him because it was able to bring out Dimple’s true side. Kageyama knew that Dimple wouldn’t hurt him; hence, instead of fighting him, Shigeo apologized to Dimple.

These words of Dimple signified that he no longer plans to push through with his plans. He then carried Mob who falls asleep because of releasing too much power during the fight. Everything was supposed to go back to the usual as this was what Dimple intends to do.

Psycho Helmet wanted Mob as a nourishment for the Divine Tree. With Mob deep in his sleep, Dimple had no choice but to fight Psycho helmet alone. Using his God-like powers, Dimple battled Psycho Helmet. However, it was not that easy to fight Psycho Helmet alone because was able to quickly multiply and regenerate.

Dimple had to fight thousands of Psycho Helmets. With Mob’s safety in his mind, he went to him and told him how amazing Shigeo is for handling such God-like powers all this time. After telling Shigeo all the words he wanted, he hypnotizes Mob. He ordered him to wake up and stand up.
This became one of the most emotional scenes from Mob Psycho 100. As Dimple told Mob that those were his first and last orders for Mob because giving himself to Psycho Helmet.
