If you have been keeping tabs on what happened in the My Hero Academia manga, you would know that the heroes have been looking for a so-called traitor who has infiltrated the system, and UA, the prestigious hero school.

During the fourth season of the anime, it was revealed that the “traitor” was actually from the Hero Association, and this traitor is also working for the League of Villains under the command of Shigaraki Tomura. In season five, we see that the “traitor” they were implying was the current number two hero, Hawks. But later in the season, it was also revealed that his loyalty still lay with the hero association, and he was instead working as a spy for the heroes, not a servant to the villains.

Later on, he helps his parents fulfill this agreement and spies on his classmates in U.A. Though he hated the idea, he had to do it for the safety of his parents.
