If you have been keeping tabs on what happened in the My Hero Academia manga, you would know that the heroes have been looking for a so-called traitor who has infiltrated the system, and UA, the prestigious hero school.
Ever since the release of the My Hero Academia manga in July of 2014, many fans have been formulating theories as to who the traitor’s identity really is. However, none of the theories so far has been spot on.
The theories started going around when the Meta Liberation Army and the League of Villains merged to form the Paranormal Liberation Front. This movement was done to destroy the current hero society, and rebuild it so that everyone can use their Quirks freely.
During the fourth season of the anime, it was revealed that the “traitor” was actually from the Hero Association, and this traitor is also working for the League of Villains under the command of Shigaraki Tomura. In season five, we see that the “traitor” they were implying was the current number two hero, Hawks. But later in the season, it was also revealed that his loyalty still lay with the hero association, and he was instead working as a spy for the heroes, not a servant to the villains.
This, however, may have been the greatest idea of the hero association, but we soon find out that even before Hawks was tasked to infiltrate the League of Villains, someone eerily close to everyone and everything has already started reporting all the possible moves of the heroes to the league.
Warning: Manga Spoilers Ahead. Turn Back Now.
They say we must keep our friends close, but our enemies closer. In Yuga Aoyama’s case, he did both, and with ease. We all have that one classmate who we all know is just…there. If you’ve watched the show (and read the manga), you would know that Aoyama just happens to be anywhere saying a cliche pickup line, or throwing a lame joke.
Chapter 336 of the My Hero Academia manga revealed that the traitor of the hero association actually was lurking inside the walls of the U.A. Academy, and it was none other than gentle, innocent, and unassuming Yuga Aoyama.
Yes, Yuga Aoyama, the blonde, Shining Hero, always bragging about his dashing beauty, shoots lasers out of his belly button, Class 1-A student, Yuga Aoyama.
The whole chapter talks about his backstory. Just like Midoriya, Aoyama was quirkless. His parents worried endlessly about what their child would become in a world dominated by strong quirks. So his parents made a pact with All for One. All For One would give him a quirk, Naval Laser, in return for his loyalty. Later on, he helps his parents fulfill this agreement and spies on his classmates in U.A. Though he hated the idea, he had to do it for the safety of his parents.
