Girls have lined up for Cid Kagenou and are vying for his attention. Cid is not the type of character eager to find love or have a girlfriend. Unfortunately, even for someone who does not intend to fall in love, Cid Kagenou’s irresistible charms have captured the hearts of not just one but many ladies. These girls are either Cid’s persona as the vigilante ‘Shadow’ or the below-average Cid Kagenou. Read on how these girls fell in love with and who has the highest chance of ending up with him!

Cid Kagenou is ready to become the Midgar Kingdom’s great vigilante who has conquered wealth and power. He is the type of protagonist obsessed with making all his plans into reality. Reincarnating in another world meant Cid had a second chance to live and finally fulfill his over-the-top plans in the modern world. Most isekai protagonists wonder about the isekai world’s women or perceive themselves as finally having a girlfriend/s. Well, Cid wasnt like that. He had no interest in whether or not he’d find love in the reincarnated world.

The Eminence in Shadow is an anime that focuses on action, fantasy, and a slight mix of comedy. This isekai series is not categorized as a typical show involving a harem. However, it may not have been officially claimed to be a harem series, but Cid Kagenou, the protagonist, definitely has a harem, and all it takes is for him to accept this fact. Without further ado, here are the female characters of The Eminence in Shadow that have helped confirm that Cid is a ladies’ man.
About The Ladies in Cid Kagenou’s Life
Cid Kagenou’s delusional mindset has set his goal to conduct all of his plans successfully. Therefore, he tries to avoid intertwining himself with more people who would put his plans at risk. However, despite his not wanting to become attached to anyone, especially a future lover, his undeniable charms cannot help but make him like a magnet in front of these ladies. The following ladies are the female characters who had and are currently part of his life.
Akane Nishino
The first girl that the series ever introduced was Akane Nishino. She was part of Cid Kagenou’s life before he became the Shadow. Akane is from modern-day Japan and is hailed as the most popular girl on their campus. Akane Nishino is from an affluent family and is a famous celebrity. Almost everyone around her admires her; hence, she always tries to smile back and greet them. However, there was one person whom she hated to the bone, and that was none other than Cid Kagenou’s former self, Minoru Kagenou.

In his previous life, Cid was also considered a below average. From his social standing, his looks, and academics, Akane described her as someone who is plain. But, no matter how average he was, she couldn’t get over the fact that he paid no mind to the most famous girl in their school, her. Akane’s life in the spotlight has put her life in grave danger. She was kidnapped and sexually harassed during middle school. Thus, she tries to live a life without making anyone an enemy, including Minoru (Cid).
Did Cid and Akane Get Together?
No, they will not. Akane Nishino was just a plot device for the series to have its awaited progress. Their relationship may seem to have potential, but it was never meant to be. If things didn’t turn out the way they did, then the two could have romantically developed a relationship. To her, he was the knight in shining armor she needed. Sadly, everything didn’t work out for them. When Akane got kidnapped for the second time, Minoru (Cid), her classmate, witnessed it. He went after them and cautiously planned out how to save her.

Before becoming the Shadow, Cid referred to himself as Stylish Ruffian Slayer in his rookie days. Even as a high school student, Cid demonstrated fighting skills that show his capabilities as an aspiring vigilante despite having no supernatural abilities. He was able to save Akane, but it also made him realize that he was still not strong enough. The kidnapping scene and Akane’s character were merely a way to show Cid’s desire to be the eminence in shadow. After the incident, Akane noticed that he was able to remember her name correctly and look at her directly. But before feelings started to form, Minoru Kagenou died and was reincarnated into another world.
Shadow Garden’s Alpha
Alpha is the first woman who is not related to him by blood that Cid met in the isekai world. Based on how much Cid trust her, it can be safely assumed that she is his right-hand woman. Alpha and Cid met when they were still young. In one of the Shadow missions, as a kid, Cid discovered Alpha, who had diseases caused by the demon king. Cid freed her from this curse, and to show her gratitude, Alpha pledged her life to him.

As her name ‘Alpha’ suggests, she is the highest-ranking member of the Shadhow Garden who is just below their master, Cid. Alpha is someone who is dedicated and possesses immense loyalty to her people, especially Cid Kagenou and his goals. Due to the negative things she went through under the Cult of Diablos, Alpha is determined to uphold all the Shadow Garden’s plans and reputation to success. She is a kind-hearted girl who always ensures the safety of her fellow Shadow Garden, as well as those who became a victim of the Cult of Diablos.
Will Alpha and Cid Get Together?
Well, it is too early to predict anything with regard to their relationship; however, what’s for sure is that among all girls, Alpha knows him best. Her loyalty and kindness toward him is not only because he was her savior. Since being cursed by the demon king and freed by it, Cid became the only one who showed and showered her with kindness. Therefore, it was no surprise that the young Alpha slowly developed feelings for her master.

Alpha and Cid grew up together. Although Cid treats the main Seven Shadow Garden as his childhood, no amount of closeness could compare to what he has with Alpha. In front of Alpha, Cid can stop all of his delusional farce and simply be a calmer version of himself. When he’s with Alpha, he can freely stop his Shadow act and become a normal human being who just wants to enjoy his burger.
In episode three of season one, Alpha pays Cid a surprise visit to his dorm. There was no doubt that these two had strong chemistry with the way she acted around him. Out of all the girls in his life, Alpha is technically the only person comfortable enough to place only an inch distance between her and Cid.

Furthermore, the other Shadow Gardens may all harbor feelings for him, but only her can get so close to her. As seen in episode three, they can comfortably share a bed. Like a wife or a girlfriend, she also helps in untying his tie and removing his shows to help him relax. Alpha wants nothing but to make Cid happier. While she may have never confirmed her feelings for him, her actions speak louder. The Japanese VA of Alpha, Asami Seto, revealed in an interview that Alpha is madly in love with Cid. Alpha’s feelings for Cid should never be underestimated because Alpha is the girl who is more happy to commit suicide than to disobey Cid.
Princess Alexia Midgar
Alexia is the complete opposite of Alpha. Unlike her warm-hearted personality around Cid, Alexia appears to be more arrogant. In the isekai world, Princess Alexia Midgar is one of the most popular girls in their school. This is because she is the second princess of the Midgar Kingdom. Alexia Midgar does not have a pleasing personality. In fact, she does not have second thoughts in heartlessly rejecting almost every one of her suitors, even in front of other people.

Alexia can act well-mannered if she wants to and build a good impression of herself from others. However, her spoiled personality was harder to conceal when she got acquainted with Cid Kagenou. Her high societal rankings and spoiled personality have molded her into someone who believes that people can be easily swayed by money, like what he did with Cid. But Alexia’s strong personality is a facade to her kind side, as well as her deep insecurities toward her older sister, Princess Iris. Alexia’s heart doesn’t hesitate to protect others, especially those she cares about. She is definitely the tsunadere of The Eminence in Shadow.
Will Alexia and Cid Get Together?
They already got together, romantically speaking. Alexia is practically the first girlfriend of Cid, in the isekai world and in his previous world. The two got together after Cid was willing to go along with his friends, Skel and Po, and planned to fake a confession to lower his societal ranking even more. As the eminence in shadow, Cid’s goal is to become a background character in everyone’s lives. He doesn’t want to stand out; hence, being rejected by Alexia would definitely lower his ranking.

Cid anticipated that Alexia would reject her like the others. Because Alexia was a high-class individual, Cid knew that her destiny after graduating was to marry someone of the same status politically. Therefore, he acted all nervous while confessing to turn her off; sadly, his plan didn’t work out. Alexia accepted his confession, and they instantly became a couple. Cid tried to do things that would push her away, but were all meaningless.
Overnight, they became their school’s most famous couple. People pudnt believe it and became envious of Cid. However, her sudden acceptance of Cid’s confession was just a ploy for her to call to prevent herself from marrying Zenon. Alexia bribed Cid, who went along with his plan, but after two weeks, they decided to call it quits. Alexia being kidnapped after their break-up leads all suspicions to Cid. However, it wasnt him who was behind it, and he was actually the one who saved her.
Alexia’s kidnapping incident was a moment for Cid Kagenou to show off his power as the Shadow. His great swordsmanship skills rekindle Alexia’s passion. Therefore, since Cid complimented her skills before the incident, she decided to meet up with him and express her desire to turn their fake relationship into something real. Unfortunately, he was not into her at all and straightforwardly rejected her.
Sherry Barnett
Sherry is a second-year student of the Midgar Royal Spellsword Academy. She is often seen carrying a pile of books or reading in the library. Sherry Barnett is a smart and curious girl. Her thirst for knowledge exceeds those who are older than her. However, despite her wide knowledge, Sherry is clueless about a lot of things in the outside world, especially when it comes to socializing with other students.

She is considered to be one of the brightest minds in the kingdom of Midgar. Therefore, Princess Iris seeks her help in deciphering an artifact recovered from the Cult of Diablos. She attended the academy to widen her resources as she studied the artifact and coincidentally met Cid Kagenou along the way, who captivated her innocent heart. Cid is the first person of the opposite gender to show interest in interacting with Sherry. However, for him, all of their meetings were coincidental, but for Sherry, who lacked socialization skills, it seemed like fate.
Will Sherry and Cid Get Together?
Sherry will develop feelings for Cid Kagenou but will harbor great resentment for his other persona as the Shadow. The two first met right after Cid rejected Alexia. Sherry fell to her knees while carrying a bunch of books, and Cid was kind enough to help her out. Moreover, when Cid and his friends decide to give out chocolates to the ones they like, unlike his friends, Cid seems disinterested in this ‘background character’ event that Skel and Po decided to do. Hence, he decided to give the chocolate to the first girl he saw, and that is none other than Sherry Barnett.

While she eats the chocolate he gave her, Sherry wonders about the reason why he gave it to her. Her adoptive father, Lutheran, walks in and implies that the chocolate signifies “love at first sight.” During the Bushin Festival, she witnessed his unsightly defeat and decided to give the cookies she made him after his match. Misinterpreting the chocolates he gave her, Sherry expresses her desire to start off as friends, which he innocently agrees to. Sherry’s reactions prove that she has started to develop feelings for Cid. Her feelings were further proven when she visited Alexia to confirm whether she and Cid were still together or not.
Unfortunately, her priorities changed because of the happenings involving Shadow with the death of his adoptive father. She went away hoping to further her research and have her revenge against Shadow, not knowing he and Cid are the same person. The cheerful and sweet side of Sherry disappeared when his adoptive father decided. Although she may still have feelings for Cid deep down, this may all fade away once he finds out who he truly is, making their relationship more impossible to happen.
Rose Oriana
Rose Oriana embodies the qualities that a leader and royalty must possess. She is charismatic, selfless, strong, and collected in everything she does. She is the former student council president of the Midgar Royal Spellsword Academy. Rose is a reliable person who is willing to save anyone who needs her and admires people whose determination is strong. During her match with Cid in the Bushin Festival, Rose admired his determination to fight despite falling to his knees multiple times.

Moreover, Rose is also the respected princess of the Oriana Kingdom. However, her strong sense of honor often leaves her in undesirable situations. Rose’s selflessness always pushes her to surpass her limits, even if it means harm to herself. In addition, she tends to overthink and jump to conclusions, particularly with the actions of Cid Kagenou, who heroically saves her from a terrorist attack.
Will Rose and Cid Get Together?
Rose and Cid’s relationship developed after the terrorist attack at their academy. As the aspiring background character, Cid happily and heroically saved Rose from the terrorists. He ended up getting gravely injured, and Rose thought his selfless sacrifice was because he had feelings for her.

After the attack, she visited the hospital where all victims of the terror attack were rushed and was relieved to see Cid alive and well. With tears of happiness, she held his hand and told him that she accepted his feelings for her. As mentioned above, Rose tends to jump to conclusions. She claimed that Cid is the one for her and that she will give her heart to him. Cid let her be all clingy towards her, but deep down wanted to have some space.
Despite not acknowledging her feelings, Cid became friendly toward her as they got to know each other. He listens to her and agrees to her request to keep on believing her. Cid was also kind enough to offer her his burger and advice to relax a bit. But just like the others, his actions should not be taken romantically. This is because when she found out that she had a fiance, Cid didn’t seem bothered about it either.
Who Will Cid End Up With?
Both the anime and manga of The Eminence in Shadow are still ongoing; therefore, it is still too early to conclude as to who he will end up with. However, with Kagenou’s unusual farce and personality, it is also not unlikely for him to not end up with anyone. Throughout season one of the anime adaptation, Cid has never once expressed his interest in the opposite genre. Although he has formed an abundant relationship with the beautiful ladies above, he remains calm and clueless about their true feelings.
As of the moment, Cid is too obsessed and focused on his missions and goals as the Shadow. Until he finally achieves all of these and defeats the Cult of Diablos, love and the girls’ feelings must patiently wait. Furthermore, aside from the girls listed above, the other Seven Shadow Gardens, such as Delta, also have romantic feelings for Shadow and are willing to do anything for his sake. All the girls have unique characteristics and are beautiful, which would make it easier for Cid to fall for them. Hence, when the time comes that he will give love a try, it is only a matter of choosing and assessing his feelings for the girls. Whether he will pick only one woman to love out all his admirers or choose to have a harem is all up to the eminence in shadow, Cid Kagenou.
