Many fans have protested as to how the manga had ended, especially because they think it was unfair to many of the characters, but most especially to the show’s protagonist, Eren Jaeger. However, at the moment, it is unsure whether or not MAPPA will follow the original ending in the manga or change it up a bit.
To keep the long story short, the ending in the manga was devastating, but beautiful nonetheless. The alliance were treated as saviors, but not heroes, they were merely accepted into society. The next problem was their acceptance into the Eldian community.
During the Rumbling, most of the residents inside the walls had sided with Eren. They thought it was wise to just let the whole world burn alongside their selfish desire to get rid of the Eldians. However, this just didn’t sit right with the alliance, so they decided it was best to stop Eren and the rumbling to save the whole world.

By doing this, they weren’t only betraying their people, but most especially the whole country as well. After three years, the alliance, composed of Armin, Annie, Jean, Pieck, Gabi, Falco, Levie, and Connie, went back to the Island wanting to defend themselves and explain their side to Queen Historia and to the people of the island.
Even though this was a fitting ending for many of the characters, nobody actually sees Mikasa, and most are disappointed. The last time anyone ever heard from Mikasa was when she walked back clutching the head of an already dead Eren, and since then, even though it was shown that she went back inside the walls to bury him, we don’t see her post-time skip, but we do see a woman with kids running around the tree Armin, Eren, and Mikasa used to play in.
If MAPPA decides to push through with the manga ending, it really would not be bad, but if they decide to add something to the already good ending, that would be even better.
