From a short-tempered noble girl to a courageous warrior, there is no doubt that she is one of the most popular characters in the series. Thus, her return to Rudeus’ life is one of the most anticipated events of the series. Read on to find out when and how she will return!

The highly anticipated season two of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation will finally premiere in July 2023. According to recent announcements shared on Twitter, season two of the series will have a total of 25 episodes. Therefore, many fans are expecting season one characters to come back together with the new characters who will be introduced.
In the key visual that teased the series’ season two, Slyphiette and Rudeus were the ones featured. Hence, many fans are wondering if they will also see the red-haired warrior, Eris Boreas Greyrat. She is one of the main characters in season one. Also, she was a former student of Rudeus and the one he traveled with after the teleportation incident along with Ruijerd Superdia. To get to know her more, let’s recall some information about Eris.
Who is Eris Boreas Greyrat?
Based on Eris’ overall performance in the series, there is no doubt that she is a tsundere. She portrayed an intimidating character right from the moment she was introduced to the series. Her red hair, and eyes flared with anger and a voice that conveyed nothing but command; Rudeus couldn’t help but get scared by her presence. However, as the series goes on, she slowly softens up, especially with Rudeus.

Indeed, Eris Boreas Greyrat is a tsundere. In addition, the paths of Rudeus and Eris crossed because, in the first place, they are somehow related by blood. Paul Greyrat, Rudeus’ father, is the cousin of Eris’ father, Philip Boreas Greyrat. Technically, Rudeus and Eris are each other’s second cousins. She came from an affluent and noble family. Paul Greyrat lives a simple life in the country; thus, Paul having a rich relative through the noble Boreas-Greyrat surprised Rudeus.
Eris got her fire-red hair from her mother, Hilda Greyrat, and she looked up to his grandfather, Sauros Boreas Greyrat, most. In fact, even with Sauro’s little screen time, one can quickly notice that her character is undoubtedly stemmed from his grandfather.

Eris Greyrat is two years older than Rudues; however, this was no reason for them to be close. Even if she is older, Rudeus acts like the more mature one most of the time. Well, maybe because he is an isekai hero with a mind of 34 years old. Eris can be violent and condescending but is also a timid girl from within. She is a noblewoman but was not born to enjoy the extravagant life of the higher class. Instead, she was destined to be a ferocious warrior who the God of Dragons and other strong characters of Mushoku Tensei would also praise.
Why Did Eris Leave Rudeus?
Eris Boreas Greyrat never wanted to leave Rudeus and their possible future behind. However, after a lot of thinking, it was her only choice for her. Eris did not leave Rudeus because she doesn’t love nor want to spend a life with him. She didn’t run away from the beautiful future that awaited them. Instead, she moved forward for the sake of their future, particularly Rudeus’ future.

Based on how the relationship between Eris and Rudeus was going in season one, surely, no one anticipated that she would leave him at the end of the series. Although, Slyphiette and Rudeus’ relationship would have been one to watch if he didn’t move to Asura and got teleported. One cannot deny that what Eris and Rudeus had made the series more interesting and exciting to look forward to.

Their little arguments and sweet moments made it look like Mushoku Tensei is not all about swords and magic. Eris and Rudeus’ relationship made the show better and lighter to watch. From the moment they meet, it is obvious that Eris will become someone special in Rudeus’ life. He may have been hired as Eris’ tutor, but they gradually develop into friends instantly.

During Rudeus’ 10th birthday, she showed that he treats him more than a friend or a tutor. She let Rudeus kiss her on the cheek and felt her breasts. However, no matter how brave she looks, Eris backs out and promises herself to him years after Rudeus’ 10th birthday. Indeed, she kept her promise, but they did it two years earlier than the promised year.
Eris was 15, and Rudeus was 13 when they arrived at the kingdom of Asura three years after being caught up in the teleportation incident. Eris found out that she lost everything she had hoped to see. Her parents were killed after the incident, and his grandfather was blamed by the king of Asura for the destructive mana calamity.

Feeling lost with the saddening news about her family, Eris went to Rudeus and asked him to be her family. Maybe to soothe the void inside her that was created from everything she had to process, Eris found comfort in being with Rudeus. Sadly, sharing a night together was not enough for her. She wanted to give more to him. Hence, instead of a morning kiss or a warm hug, Rudeus woke up with a goodbye letter from Eris.

The anime adaptation of this scene didn’t give much context on Eris’ side, unlike the scene’s version in the manga. In the manga, Eris didn’t get any sleep after they did what they did. She had so many things on her mind, but Rudeus’ sake was her priority. Making love with Rudeus only made her feel that she had made such an impulsive decision because he was still too young.

In chapter 52, Eris’ goal and reason for leaving Rudeus behind are revealed. According to her, she wants to stop being a burden to him. Although Rudeus is the person who would not think of Eris as extra baggage in his life, she still felt scared. The one night they spent together was the sweetest moment of Eris’ life. However, their encounter with Orsted and how he easily defeated them all never left her mind.
She knew deep inside that if she continued their life as it was, she will never be capable of moving forward. Hence, with all the courage she had left, she left with the promise to return stronger that even the great Orsted would be put to shame. She loved Rudeus so much. She was willing to sacrifice years away from him so that she could someday protect him, like how he protects her.
Furthermore, even Ruijerd, whom they traveled for three years with, was aware of the feelings they had for each other. In Ruijerd’s comeback in chapter 87, he deduced Eris’ action as a sickness often associated with warriors.

As a warrior, Eris wanted to protect the ones she loved, not the other way around. Ruijerd also emphasizes to Rudeus that he should hear her out when they meet. Rudeus gave Ruijerd’s words some thought, but his wife, Sylphiette, gave him the assurance he needed. On one hand, Eris left him without clearing things up, resulting in him falling into depression.
Rudeus and Eris’ relationship is a reminder that feelings are best understood when said. A person’s love language may differ from the other. Therefore, it is essential to inform each other, no matter how painful the decision.
Where is Eris Right Now? When Will She Return to Rudues?
After leaving Rudeus behind, Eris and Ghislaine started to head out on their own journey to the Holy Land of Swords. Together with Aldonse, they planned to spread the rumor that the heir of the Boreas-Greyrat family, Eris, had died. Rudeus didn’t take her absence lightly. This is because she was his first love. He fell into a great depression and suffered erectile dysfunction for years.
Slyphiette indeed became Rudeus’ first wife. However, she was never the true love; it was always Eris. While Slyphiette was Rudeus’ first crush, and his feelings might have deepened earlier if he didn’t leave Buena Village. One cannot deny that Rudeus was ready to give everything to Eris. In chapter 51, more of Rudeus’ feelings which were not featured in the anime, were included.

Rudeus accepted Eris as a man. He wanted her so much, making him disgusted with Alfonse’s suggestion to marry Eris off to another noble just to save her family’s reputation. He admitted that he loves Eris and wants to protect and have a family with her more than anything. Rudeus even got to think about his future with her, such as being happily married with three kids. Unfortunately, Eris had other plans for herself and their future.

According to Mushoku Tensei‘s light novel, Eris will relentlessly train under Ghislaine’s former master, Gal Farion, at the Holy Land of Swords. She will spend days and nights training without wasting a single time while she is apart from the love of her life. Gal Farion is currently the fourth strongest person in the series, with the absence of Laplace, who holds both the top spot and the fourth rank.
Through Farrion’s instruction, she will also train under the North Emperor, Auber Corvette. The spin-off manga of Eris features her training at the Holy Land of Swords and her duel with Corvette. In chapter 6.1 of the spin-off manga, Auber described the chill he felt from Eris, like facing a starving wild beast, and is amazed by the read-hair warrior’s strong bloodlust. This kind of ferocious impression made her nickname Mad Dog or Mad Sword King Eris much more sense.
A year after becoming Corvette’s student, she shall earn a King Rank in Sword God Style. Based on the light novel, Eris will return to keep one of her promises which is to protect Rudeus from Orsted. According to the light novel, Eris will head to Sharia upon receiving a letter containing information about Rudeus’ battle with Orsteds. She visits his household only to find out that Rudeus have already left to battle Orsted.

Eris Greyrat leaving Rudeus behind and training vigorously at the Holy Land of the Swords all revolve around her determination to fight Orsted alongside Rudeus. Although the two will never be a match to Orsted, they were able to land some attacks on him compared to their first battle. All the training that Eris did become fruitful, for she became a warrior strong enough to fight the God of Dragon. The battle ended well as Rudeus and Orsted became each other’s comrades.
The understanding between Rudeus and Orsted signaled that Eris could now return to Rudeus’ arms, for Orsted was no longer a threat. It was time for the two to continue the long-delayed talk about their real status. With Rudeus having two wives already, Eris was at first hesitant. However, her feelings for him were no match for her reasoning.
Knowing Eris, she challenged him to a duel, which Rudeus willingly agreed to and declared that his feelings for her were always there. Right after the battle with Orsted, Rudeus proposes to her, and they consummate their marriage on the same night.

In Eris’ point of view in the manga, she always wanted to be Rudeus’ family. Since they were young, she has loved no one besides him. Her disappearance might have caused Rudeus much pain; however, even he admitted that she was the missing piece in his life. In the end, she was able to fulfill all of her promises. She became a massively strong warrior that can now protect Rudeus and the family they built.
Eris Greyrat is one of the toughest characters in Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation. Her drive to continue pursuing her aspirations no matter how difficult they seem makes her an interesting character. She abandoned her noble status to become a strong and respected warrior. Hopefully, season two will cover some of Eris’ training, and her reunion with Rudeus will be as sweet as how it is portrayed in the light novel.
