Popular sci-fi manga World Trigger revealed on X (Twitter) it will be taking a short break in the upcoming February 2024 issue of Shueisha’s Jump SQ due to author Daisuke Ashihara’s poor health condition. Followers of the series can expect the manga to resume in the March issue, scheduled to be released on February 2.
This isn’t the first time that the manga series took a break due to its creator’s health. Daisuke Ashihara introduced World Trigger to readers in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 2013. The manga experienced a hiatus in November 2016 due to Ashihara’s health concerns, making a comeback in October 2018 for five issues before transitioning to Shueisha’s Jump SQ. magazine in December 2018. The series also had several pauses in 2021 and an additional four breaks in 2022.
Since its debut, World Trigger recruited thousands of fans due to its interesting plot and characters. It expanded its reach beyond manga with the first television anime season premiering in October 2014, followed by a sequel in October 2015. The second season aired in January 2021, followed by the third anime season in October 2021.

One day, a gate to another world opened in Mikado City. Invaders from another dimension, referred to thereafter as Neighbors, overran the area around the gate, leaving the city gripped by fear. However, a mysterious group suddenly appeared and repelled the Neighbors. This Border Defense Agency independently researches Neighbor technology and fights to protect this world. In a short time, they managed to build an enormous base and prepare a defensive system against the Neighbors. it’s been four years since then.
