Based on the manga series written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari, OSHI NO KO is a popular anime adaptation. It was first serialized in Weekly Young Jump in 2020 and currently has 10 tankoubon volumes as of January 2023. This series is published under the Young Jump Comics label.
Yen Press describes the premise as:
Gorou is a gynecologist and idol fan who’s in shock after his favorite star, Ai, announces an impromptu hiatus. Little does Gorou realize that he’s about to forge a bond with her that defies all common sense! Lies are an idol’s greatest weapon in this outrageous manga from Aka Akasaka (Kaguya-sama: Love is War) and Mengo Yokoyari (Scum’s Wish).
The team behind the OSHI NO KO anime includes director Daisuke Hiramaki (Selection Project, Asteroid in Love), assistant director Chao Nekotomi (known for Shikimori’s Not Just A Cutie and Selection Project), and series composer Jin Tanaka (known for Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club and Laid-Back Camp). The animation production company responsible for the project is Doga Kobo.
The series boasts a star-studded cast, including Rie Takahashi as Ai, Takeo Ootsuka as Aqua, Yurie Igoma as Ruby, Kento Itou as Goro, Tomoyo Takayanagi as Sarina, Yumi Uchiyama as young Aqua, and Yurie Igoma as young Ruby.
