WHAT IS BLUE EXORCIST ABOUT?

Blue Exorcist Vol.1

The plot centers around Rin Okumura, who was raised by an Exorcist, Father Shiro Fujimoto along with his younger twin brother Yukio Okumura. Rin discovers one day that he and Yujio are Satan’s sons. When Rin sees Shiro die to protect him, he draws the demon-slaying sword Kurikara (倶利伽羅), which controls his demonic powers. Rin now has demonic traits such as fangs and a tail, as well as the ability to ignite into blue flames that destroy practically anything he touches.

Rin aspires to be an Exorcist like his guardian in order to grow stronger and destroy Satan. He enrolls at the elite True Cross Academy, an exorcist cram school that is actually the Japanese chapter of the True Cross Order, an international organization dedicated to protecting Assiah (the human realm from Gehenna (demonic realm). Rin is surprised to learn that Yukio is a seasoned Exorcist and one of his teachers. Thus begins Rin’s journey to become an Exorcist, joined by his brother and his fellow pupils who rapidly become his close friends.
