The latest episode of Demon Slayer anime reveals the incredible powers of Hantengu, one of Muzan Kibutsuji’s Upper Four. This marks the beginning of the next major battle for Tanjiro Kamado and his comrades. As the anime delves into the Swordsmith Village Arc from Koyoharu Gotoge’s Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba manga, the initial episodes of season 3 set the scene and established the new status quo.
With the stage now set, Demon Slayer season 3 episode 3 wastes no time in getting straight into the action as Hantengu launches an attack on Tanjiro, Nezuko, and Muichiro Tokito, the Mist Hashira. Though not as powerful-looking as some of the other Upper Ranks, Hantengu’s secret power soon becomes evident, justifying his position at the top of the food chain.
What is Hantengu’s True Power?
In Demon Slayer Season 3 Episode 3, Hantengu’s incredible speed was on display as he easily dodged Muichiro’s first Mist Breathing attack. But that’s not all – he also possesses a unique ability. Similar to Daki, who survived being beheaded with Gyutaro hiding in her body, Hantengu works in a similar way. When Muichiro beheads him, both halves of his body transform into two powerful demons, each with their own unique personalities and abilities.
Things take a turn for the worse when Genya joins the fight and beheads the two split Hantengus. Each half of Hantengu’s body split again into four distinct demons with their own unique looks and powers, making them even more dangerous than before. This revelation highlights that the Upper Ranks possess far more power than Tanjiro and his companions anticipated.
