American Evangelion fans, you’re going to love this! GKIDS released a trailer for the Evangelion: 3.0+1.01 Thrice Upon a Time film and it is coming soon in US Theatres by December 2022!
They also shared on Twitter the premiere dates of the film: December 6, 8, and 11, 2022. The tickets will be available by November 2, 2022, which can be accessed on GKIDS’ official Evangelion film website. You can also buy tickets from the participating theater boxes. It only has limited screening, so make sure to grab this chance to finally watch the finale!

The trailer depicted a collection of scenes from Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time. It showed the setting, the protagonists, various situations, and the antagonists. It does not provide much context, to avoid spoiling the viewers. But it ends with the main character, Shinji Ikari, changing his eye color and looking determined. Whatever Shinji is dealing with, it is surely worth the excitement.
In the end, the trailer revealed that the film will be coming soon to theaters in December 2022.

Evangelion: 3.0+1.01 Home Entertainment
If some viewers are not able to watch the limited screenings, then rest assured that GKIDS has also acquired the North American rights to release Evangelion: 3.0+1.01 Thrice Upon a Time on home entertainment platforms! This was announced last June 2022. The specific dates of the release are yet to be updated. The official GKIDS’ Twitter account will be sharing the details soon.
GKIDS have already released the Neon Genesis Evangelion TV series, Evangelion: Death (True)2 and The End of Evangelion films on Blu-ray and for digital download that can be owned in 2021.
Evangelion: 3.0+1.01 Synopsis
The story is about the journey of Shinji Ikari, Asuka Langley Shikinami, and Rei Ayanami in Village 3 – a settlement for survivors that are not affected by the post-apocalyptic Earth. Shinji is starting to come to terms with his past, having a new life different from his time as an Evangelion pilot. NERV is now preparing to continue the Fourth Instrumentality Project. WILLE’s battleship then arrived at the village, and Shinji has to make a decision. Will he be able to save humanity then?

Evangelion: 3.0+1.01 Background
Evangelion: 3.0+1.01 Thrice Upon a Time is the fourth installment of the Rebuild of Evangelion films. It is the conclusion of the previous films: Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo, Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance, and Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone. It was screened at theaters in Japan last March 2021 and received immense critical acclaim and major box office success. It was ranked #1 in the leading box office in Japan for the month of March.
It was also released worldwide on Amazon Prime Video in August 2021.
The film is directed by Hideaki Anno, who is known for directing the Neon Evangelion series and its films, as well as voicing Jiro Horikoshi from Studio Ghibli’s The Wind Rises. Yoshiyuki Sadamoto is the author and illustrator of the Neon Genesis Evangelion manga, where it all started.
