It seems like this year has many good news in store for shounen fans! Readers of popular manga Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End can finally see the story translated in the small screen soon. The revelation came after retailer Animate listed the cover of the manga’s ninth volume, which states that the series is getting an anime adaptation.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is a fantasy-adventure manga written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe. The series was first serialized in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shōnen Sunday in 2020. Viz Media licensed the manga for English release. Its plot is described as follows:
The adventure is over but life goes on for an elf mage just beginning to learn what living is all about. Elf mage Frieren and her courageous fellow adventurers have defeated the Demon King and brought peace to the land. But Frieren will long outlive the rest of her former party. How will she come to understand what life means to the people around her? Decades after their victory, the funeral of one her friends confronts Frieren with her own near immortality. Frieren sets out to fulfill the last wishes of her comrades and finds herself beginning a new adventure…

The manga enjoys popularity among readers since its released, ranking 2nd on the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! list of best manga for male readers in 2021.
It also won the New Creator Prize for the 25th Annual Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize and the 14th Manga Taisho Award in the same year.

There were over 2 million copies of the manga in circulation in 2021. The figures increased to 5.6 million copies the next year. As of June 2022, there are more than 6 million copies of the series in circulation.
No further details on the upcoming anime adaptation has been released yet.
