In chapter 41 of My Lv999 Love for Yamada-kun manga, the two characters come to a pivotal moment in their relationship where they confess their true feelings for each other. It’s a moment that readers have been waiting for, and the tension is palpable as Akane nervously asks Yamada if he likes her. In a heartwarming response, Yamada smiles and admits that she caught him, finally revealing the feelings that he has been keeping hidden.
Akane Tries to Confess
In chapter 34 of the story, Akane attempts to reveal her romantic feelings for someone to both Momo and Eita. Although Momo and Eita already know who she likes, Akane seems hesitant about confessing. She mentions that her initial encounter with this person was not very smooth. Momo speaks on behalf of Akane to Eita and explains that Akane is concerned about why she gets so flustered around the person she likes. Eita questions why being flustered is a problem, but Akane is uncertain about the answer.
Eita explains that he has been friends with “the guy Akane likes” (Yamada) for a long time and thinks highly of him. He then encourages Akane, wishing her luck and reassuring her that she has the support of him and Momo. Momo chimes in and urges Akane to be courageous and take action promptly. She also emphasizes that if Akane decides to confess her feelings, she should inform them right away.
With a resolute expression, Akane rises from her seat and declares that she will go through with it. She assures Momo and Eita that she won’t falter and leaves while giving them a grateful smile and thanking them for their support.
Akane starts to ponder about when she developed feelings for the person she likes. She realizes that she can’t recall a specific moment when it happened. However, she does know that when he, who doesn’t often smile, does laugh, it brings her joy.
Akane wonders if she is rushing things, but then recalls how she and Yamada met. She remembers Yamada asking if she was okay, and in the present moment, she thinks to herself, “I’m okay now.” Akane rushes to Yamada’s house and greets him with a simple “Yo!” However, in her heart, she confesses her feelings, thinking,
“I like you.”

Yamada asks if Akane needs something. Akane attempts to confess her feelings but ends up asking, “Don’t you think it’s warm today?” instead. Yamada apologizes as he needs to go to school soon. Akane is surprised since it is a Saturday and she thought he had the day off. Yamada offers to listen to her if she needs to talk while they are en route to the station. He also wonders why Akane didn’t just call him. This response leaves Akane speechless, and she berates herself for not considering if Yamada was busy before showing up at his doorstep.
They are then shown walking outside together. Yamada asks Akane again what she wanted to talk about. She responds that she doesn’t think it’s the right time to say it, possibly because there are too many people around, and it’s not really a romantic setting. However, Akane knows that she doesn’t have much time, and she needs to confess her feelings quickly. Her thoughts are interrupted when Yamada grabs her wrist to prevent her from walking into the path of a red-light pedestrian crossing.
As the traffic light turns green, Yamada continues to hold Akane’s hand and leads her across the street. Akane blushes and thinks, “Let me take advantage of your kindness and stay like this forever”
As they approach the train, Yamada realizes he needs to go to school and apologizes for not being able to listen to Akane’s concerns. Akane tells him it’s alright, admitting that she’s feeling a bit out of sorts that day. Yamada looks at her with concern and offers to meet and talk about it after class, although it might be a bit late. Akane is overjoyed and smiles, causing even the usually composed Yamada to smile as well.
While Yamada was at school, it started raining. Okamoto, aware of Yukari’s feelings for Yamada, urges her to ask Yamada to share his umbrella with her. So she does and Yamada agrees and shares his umbrella with Yukari, being the gentleman that he is. After walking a bit, Yamada tells Yukari to keep the umbrella and rushes off to meet Akane. However, Yukari runs after him and falls down. As Yamada tries to help her up, she confesses her love for him.
In the next panel, Akane is shown looking at the clock and then receives a message from Yamada, informing her that he can’t go with her after school and apologizing, adding that they could go next time. Akane responds to the message and then puts her head down on the table, looking outside at the rain.

Yamada Likes Akane
When Yukari confessed her feelings to Yamada, she knew that he would reject her, but she did it anyway because she had been holding onto her feelings for a long time and wanted to ease her heart. Yamada tells her that he cannot return her feelings, and Yukari accepts his answer. However, she notices a drawing on Yamada’s palm and asks about it. Yamada explains that a “friend” drew it with an oil-based marker as a joke. Yukari smiles and says she knows exactly who drew it (yes this was Akane who drew it earlier that day).
Yukari then asks Yamada if Akane is the person he likes. Yamada recalls Akane’s smile and looks at Yukari with a serious and determined expression, saying “Yes.”
Yukari then thinks to herself that she already knew that Yamada had feelings for Akane because she has been watching him closely. When she noticed Yamada’s change in behavior towards Akane, she knew right away.
Yamada Confesses to Akane
In chapter 39, when the Chocolate Rabbit Guild went out to eat, drinks were involved, and Akane got drunk. So later on, the guild entrusts Yamada to take care of Akane and bring her home safely.
Yamada buys water for Akane who had fallen asleep. As she woke up on the bench, she immediately becomes talkative to Yamada. As they walk, Akane’s heel gets stuck on the sidewalk, and Yamada kneels down to fix it for her. The two stared at one another like they already knew that they have feelings for each other.
Yamada asks Akane if they should continue walking, and she agrees. Even though Akane appears to have sobered up, the two still held hands as they walk.
When they reach Akane’s doorstep and begin to say goodbye, something prompts Akane to grab Yamada’s jacket and stop him. She makes a goofy face, realizing what she’s about to say, and asks in a robotic voice
Yamada, do you like me?

As she says this, she blushes.
Akane explains that she got the feeling because of them holding hands, to which Yamada smiles and admits that she caught him. Akane then suggests that they should have a proper conversation about it when she is sober. Yamada responds by saying
Like, what I meant by that, is I like you. I… have feelings for you, Akane.
Akito Yamada
then proceeds to say goodnight. Akane asks if she can call him in the morning because she thinks she might believe it was just a dream and starts doubting herself.
Akane starts to reminisce about their first memories together, including how she met him at a convention. As she cries, Yamada hugs her and reassures her, saying, “I’ll do it tomorrow as soon as I wake up.”
That was the end of chapter 40, in chapter 41, Akane calls Yamada early in the morning, and as she answers the phone, she blushes and yells, “GOOD MORNING!!” The narrative explains that she hasn’t slept at all.
