Sword Art Online is making a comeback with a unique event overseas, and fans have been given a sneak peek of what’s in store with the release of the Sword Art Online: Anomaly Quest trailer and poster. This event commemorates the 10th anniversary of Reki Kawahara’s original light novel release and the subsequent anime adaptation. The franchise is expanding in exciting new directions with several new projects currently in production. One of these projects is a thrilling new experience that immerses fans in Japan in the middle of the action.
Initially shrouded in mystery, Sword Art Online: Anomaly Quest has now been revealed to be a special virtual event created by The Tokyo Matrix. Fans will have the opportunity to team up with their beloved Sword Art Online characters, with Kirito and Asuna cast as the antagonists this time around. While the event is only available to fans in Japan, the trailer and poster are now available for fans everywhere to enjoy.

What is Sword Art Online: Anomaly Quest and the latest news on the upcoming movie?
Sword Art Online: Anomaly Quest is set to take place at The Tokyo Matrix, an exciting new attraction space opening in the Tokyo Kabukicho Tower in Shinjuku. Fans will be transported to a virtual world where they can face off against fearsome monsters and navigate through challenging dungeons.
As for its story, Sword Art Online: Anomaly Quest is described as such,
“A new QUEST (mission) in the full-dive VR MMORPG ‘ALfheim Online’ is to defeat Kirito and Asuna. Players form a party to defeat the two and head to the deepest part of the dungeon under the guidance of Yui.”
Following the release of the latest Sword Art Online Progressive film in Japan last year, the franchise is now in the process of creating a brand new movie featuring an original story that has not been seen in any light novel releases or spin-offs. Although the release date for this film has not been announced at this time, fans can eagerly await further details to come.
