Great news! Crunchyroll has won streaming rights to one of anime’s finest live-action films. Tokyo Revengers’ feature film is now available for streaming to viewers in the United States, and fans of the blockbuster manga are lining up to see it.
Crunchyroll announced earlier today that Tokyo Revengers is now available to stream as one of its live-action offerings. The film is available to subscribers in North America, but not to all users worldwide. Currently, Asia, South America, and Spain are not permitted to stream the film.
Tokyo Revengers fans are naturally thrilled to see this live-action entry, as it is one of the finest in anime. The film premiered in Japan in 2021 and was the top live-action picture in the country that year. Tokyo Revengers is now working on two live-action sequels, the first of which will be released in Japan on April 21st. The third Tokyo Revengers episode will then air in late June 2023.
Crunchyroll’s acquisition of the Tokyo Revengers film comes at an excellent moment. If you are unaware, the anime is now showing its second season exclusively on Disney+ and Hulu. Tokyo Revengers season 2 premiered in January 2023, after the release of season 1 in April 2021. Those who follow the story will be aware that Tokyo Revengers season 2 is addressing the manga’s Christmas arc, so Takemichi and Mikey are excited about their return.
Here’s the Synopsis for the Live-Action Film:
Watching the news, Hanagaki Takemichi learns his junior-high girlfriend Tachibana Hinata has died. A sudden shove sends him 12 years into the past to face the Tokyo Manji Gang that once made his life hell, which is also responsible for Hinata’s death in the present.
