Shounen fans just got another series to add in their 2023 watch list. The official Twitter account of the upcoming Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End anime adaptation confirmed on Tuesday, Nov 29, that the anime will be premiering sometime in 2023. The announcement was coupled with an illustration by manga artist Tsukasa Abe to commemorate the news.

Launched in 2020, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is a shounen fantasy manga written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe. The series has been serialized in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine and is currently on its nineth volume.
The manga is now a critically-acclaimed work, securing among others the New Creator Prize for the 25th Annual Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize in 2021 and the 14th Manga Taisho Award in the same year.

The adventure is over but life goes on for an elf mage just beginning to learn what living is all about. News about the manga getting a TV anime adaptation first made rounds in September 2021, but no details as to its release date has been announced yet at the time.
With its debut year finally revealed, details as to its key staff, cast members, and specific release date are expected to be announced soon.
