No, he will not. Due to plenty of main character-centered anime being released, many believed that the protagonist always ends up victorious, well, not in Rudeus and Orsted’s case. Rudeus will never get to avenge his donut incident, which happened during his fight with Orsted. However, there is no reason to be so down because a bond of friendship being built between characters is much more important, right? Besides, there is no reason to defeat him because Orsted is not Mushoku Tensei‘s villain.
If Rudeus Greyrat weren’t the character Mushoku Tensei revolves around, he would have died in season 1 episode 21, without a chance of surviving. In every anime in genres like action, isekai, fantasy, thriller, and more, there will always be a villain. They are one of the story’s most crucial characters whom the protagonists and or their allies have to face.
I mean, every anime deserves a villain at some point to keep the storyline interesting. Hence, strong villains are expected in a series like Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation. Mushoku Tensei has some of the most powerful characters, which include the God of Dragon, Orsted.
Who is Orsted?
Orsted is ranked 2nd as the strongest God in the world of Mushoku Tensei. He is part of the Seven Great Powers, which the ranked 1 God, Laplace, created long ago. Although he is second, Orsted is the strongest person in the series. With Laplace being M.I.A, the God of Dragons is currently the strongest active God and human. Thus, no one would dare to even give him a glance due to his intense aura. Well, except for the clueless Rudeus Greyrat, of course.
Orsted is a broad and tall man with silver hair and golden-colored eyes. His appearance undoubtedly catches anyone’s attention without even trying. His looks shout confidence, pride, fear, and power all at the same time. Not only that, but it also no doubt that he is also one of the series’ most good-looking men.
Moreover, he was born roughly 10,000-20,000 years ago in the City of Kayos in the Dragon World. His father is the first Dragon God, while his mother is the daughter of the original Human God, not the Hitogami we know today. The first Dragon God, Orsted’s father, holds a deep hatred towards Hitogami for tricking him, leading to his wife’s death. Hitogami played the Dragon God, which not only took the life of Orsted’s mother but ended up making the first Dragon God to destroy the other Gods and their world.

Orsted has to live with a curse where all living creature hates and fears him. To avenge his father’s failure and regrets, Orsted was sent by his father 10000 years into the future with the intent to kill the mischievous Hitogami finally. His father bestowed him with the god gem and gave him the ability to hide his presence from Hitogami, increasing his chances of killing him. Today, Orsted is the strongest member of the Dragon Tribe and one of Mushoku Tensei’s major supporting characters.
When Did Rudeus and Orsted Meet?
Rudeus Greyrat and Orsted encounter were one of the series’ most unexpected scenes. After saving his half-sister Aisha and her mother Lilia, Rudeus, Ruijerd, and Eris continued to embark on their journey to get Eris home. During their journey on a snowy mountain, the Dead End trio talks about the Seven Great Powers, which includes Orsted. Unexpectedly, they shall encounter one of their most difficult battle during their climb.
While Rudeus mentioned the Technique, God and Dragon God’s ranking, Eris and Ruijerd suddenly stopped walking, and fear was plastered all over their faces. Due to his curiosity about his friends’ actions, Rudeus looked at where their eyes were directed and saw two individuals walking toward them. The two people were still far away at that time. However, Ruijerd and Eris’ reactions prove that the people or person approaching is no ordinary human being/s.

Ruijerd has more experience in the parallel world. Hence, he kept on reminding the two, especially Rudeus, to not move their muscles to avoid any problems. Due to the continuous-time loop that Orsted has been through, he is aware of almost all of the people from the Mushoku Tensei, excluding Rudeus. Rudeus is completely unaffected by the curse that keeps on people fearing Orsted. Rudeus being unmoved by the curse, asked the invincible Dragon God a question and introduced himself to Orsted.
After finding out that Rudeus is a Greyrat, Orsted highlighted that Paul Greyrat was meant to have a son, indicating that he somehow knows what has happened or will happen to support the time loop he is in. Despite his intimidating aura, Orsted was willing to entertain Rudeus’s questions and wasn’t planning to attack him. But after discovering that Rudeus know who Man-God is entirely changed the atmosphere into a bloody battle.
Orsted despises Man-God or Hitogami most because of the gruesome happenings that Orsted and his family had to go through. Hence, even with the mention of his name, Orsted instantly gets furious. He was aiming to attack Rudeus but was blocked by Ruijerd. He assumes that Rudeus is an apostle of Hitogami. Ruijerd and Eris tried their best to prevent Orsted from attacking Rudeus. However, even when using their full strength and power, they were all useless in front of the great God of Dragons.

There is no doubt that Rudeus Greyrat possesses immense knowledge and massive mana that allows him to cast powerful spells. However, it was the second most powerful man whom he was facing. Although Rudeus hasn’t unlocked his full potential yet, he is now one of the strongest characters in the series. It was not still enough. This is because Orsted himself has mastered all necessary combat skills, be it in magic or swordsmanship. He has already reached all God-tier rankings in every technique that any of the characters has to achieve.
With only his raw strength, he was able to weaken Rudeus’ party greatly. Orsted does not listen, particularly to those who are affiliated with Hitogami. That is why he didn’t give Rudeus or anyone among them the chance to explain themselves. Moreover, Rudeus Greyrat joined the list of animes who got ‘donut’ alongside Rengoku from Demon Slayer, Ace from One Piece, and Rin from Naruto Shippuden. Yup, Orsted literally created a hole in Rudeus’ body which was enough to kill him if he wasn’t the main character. This incident earned Orsted the name ‘donut maker’.
A fan even shared on Twitter how quick it was for the God of Dragons to pull the famous donut incident to Rudeus:

Is Orsted the Villain in Mushoku Tensei?
Despite Orsted putting Rudeus, Eris, and Ruijerd’s life in grave danger, he is still not Muskoku Tensei’s antagonist. In fact, he was never written to be a villain in Rudeus’ life. Behind his intimating aura that channels fear among people is a kind-hearted man. He only wants nothing but to make, Hitogami, the man behind the death of his mother, father, and many of his people, face the consequences of his actions using his own hands.
During the deadly battle between the Dead End trio and Orsted, he didn’t give them any chance to land an attack on him. However, he praised Rudeus’ Nuclear Explosion magic spell due to the large quantity of man that it takes to cast probably. But, Orsted being impressed with his magical abilities wasn’t enough to spare him, especially since he is connected to Hitogami.

Season 1 of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation ended with Eris realizing that her strength was not enough to protect Rudeus. Eris witnessed how dreadful Rudeus’ state was after fighting Orsted and how she could have lost him if not for the certain miracle which allowed him to come back alive.
After being ‘donut’ by Orsted once again meet Hitogami in his dreams. Man-God told Rudeus some information about Orsted. He told him that even with three curses holding him back, Orsted was still the strongest man alive. Hitogami also added that he might be ranked second among the Seven Great Powers; however, he can easily take on the Technique God in a one-on-one battle.
These pieces of information from Hitogami made Rudeus point out the fact that he knows a lot of stuff about Orsted despite not being able to trace his actions due to one of the curses the First God of Dragon bestowed on his son. The moment Rudeus made this interpretation, Hitogami being uneasy was very evident, which Rudeus shouldn’t have disregarded. This is if Rudeus did notice it.
For all the Hitogami fans or followers outside Mushoku Tensei, it is so sad to convey that he was not helping Rudeus at all throughout the series. From the self-proclaimed God that offered Rudeus advice, Hitogami quickly turned into the Mushoku Tensei‘s real antagonist. It turns out that Hitogami planned to prevent Rudeus from having his children because of a vision that his descendants would be the ones who would cause his death. On one hand, Orsted will become one of the major supporting characters of the series.
Will Rudeus and Orsted Meet Again?
They will, and Rudeus will try to fight Orsted again. Hitogami’s effective deception towards Rudeus led him to believe that he is indeed the wicked God of Dragons who harbors hate for the Man-God. However, the second meeting of Rudeus and Orsted will be the turning point of their relationship from enemies to allies.
As if the first time wasn’t enough, Rudeus will again try to defeat Orsted under Hitogami’s orders. According to the light novel of Mushoku Tensei, Rudeus and Orstd will meet years after their first battle. They will continue what they have started but with a twist. Instead of simply fighting with the motive to kill each other, Rudeus and Orsted agreed to fight. But this time, with the bet that whoever loses will become a subordinate of the winner.
Obviously, with Orsted’s strength, juvenile Rudeus was still no match for him, even with years of training. How come? Well, it should be emphasized that one of Orsted’s curses is that he cannot use his full potential because of slow mana regeneration. Thus, imagine how strong Orsted is.
During Orsted’s battle with Rudeus, he uses his Godsword technique, wherein a katana forms in his left hand and draws a massive amount of mana. This technique has a limit of 10 minutes, but the power it holds was enough to overwhelm the gifted isekai hero, Rudeus Greyrat. Losing the fight led to Rudeus becoming one of the God of Dragons’ subordinates. Although their relationship didn’t instantly change, Orsted learned to trust Rudeus as they got to know one another.
Choose! Rudeus Greyrat! Side with Hitogami, and lose everything to me! Or follow me, and fight the Hitogami together! If it’s you, since it’s you who is immune to my curse, then you should be able to choose with your own will!
Orsted to Rudeus Greyrat (Mushoku Tensei Light Novel Volume 15 – Chapter 9)
As mentioned, Orsted may be a man who radiates fear and power, but he also has the softest heart. Behind his tough appearance is a warm-hearted man, especially when involving kids. He does not take advantage of his rank and aims to treat his allies as his family or friends. Orsted has a great character because he recognizes the people around him based on their skills and abilities, not their social ranks.

As Rudeus began to forge a bond of friendship with Orsted, he also began to learn more about him. In episode twenty-one of season one, Rudeus empathizes with Orsted when Hitogami mentions that one of his curses is that the people fear him. And Rudeus understood him more as a friend and a person when he learned more about Orsted’s history and curses.
Together, these two will work in order to end Hitogami’s mischievousness and deception. Of course, to also finally avenge Orsted’s family and clan. MAJOR! MAJOR SPOILER ALERT! Mushoku Tensei Jobless Reincarnation light novel ended with the death of Hitogami being unsettled. However, the sequel of the series will maintain Orsted as one of its major characters. According to Rudeus’ vision, Orsted will work together with his and Roxy’s daughter, Lara Greyrat, and another character to finally put an end to Hitogami’s evil schemes.
In conclusion, Orsted may have been dubbed as another ‘donut maker’ for almost killing Rudeus. However, their relationship was still able to teach and prove to others that burying the past and building something beautiful from it is possible. If the anime adaptation sticks to the original story, then fans will witnessed how massive Orsted’s character will develop. He will become someone so close, not only to Rudeus but also to his children, particularly Lucy, whom he will also teach some magic.
